Stroke units have radically changed the prognosis after a stroke reduces mortality and hospitalization time. According to American publications (AHA / ASA) and European (ESO) guidelines these results are achieved with a level of evidence IA, giving one of the main strategies in the development of stroke care plans in the population.

    They are essential for monitoring the patient after stroke (after  reperfusion treatments or control follow-up ), detect and treat complications and often establish the diagnosis of stroke by detecting cardiac arrhythmias or other alterations in early stroke phase.

This care must be audited, and follow the recommendations published clinical guidelines, medical personnel and nurses who know and apply these protocols and their exceptions.
